Thomas SAFARI is the lead research assistant for the Gishwati Primate Project and a long-term resident of the local community of Kinihira. Safari completed his secondary education in 2006 and received an advanced certificate of education in human science from the Technical School of Busogo, Rwanda. Safari has been studying the chimpanzees of Gishwati forest since 2007 and has been a part of the current long-term chimpanzee project since 2008. Safari is an expert on the flora and fauna of Gishwati and has extensive training and experience in collecting behavioral and ecological data. He believes that it is important to practice conservation ethics because the disturbance of natural resources negatively affects the biodiversity and climate.
